Warsaw Metro M1 Line Paralyzed: 10 Stations Closed After Tunnel Intrusion

Ten stations on Warsaw’s M1 metro line remain closed this Wednesday morning, June 24, after an unauthorized person entered the tunnel, forcing authorities to suspend service and launch emergency bus and tram routes.

Service Disruption and Emergency Measures

Major transit delays are affecting passengers on the M1 line today. Ten stations have been removed from service, requiring commuters to rely on surface transportation as emergency crews secure the tunnel and inspect infrastructure.

The disruption impacts the central section of the first metro line, affecting thousands of passengers during the morning and afternoon rush. Authorities advise commuters to check updates frequently, as traffic management may change based on the situation.

Alternative Transit Routes

Warsaw Public Transport (WTP) has launched replacement services to accommodate affected travelers. M1 trains are currently limited to the section between Młociny and Politechnika.

A replacement bus line, ZM1, is operating between Metro Politechnika and Os. Kabaty. Additionally, the ZM2 tram line has been established to connect Metro Wilanowska and Pl. Narutowicza via Puławska and Marszałkowska.
