Mława Murder Suspect Deemed Sane by Forensic Psychiatrists

Following a four-week psychiatric evaluation, experts have determined that Bartosz G., accused of the brutal murder of 16-year-old Maja in Mława, was fully aware of his actions and is fit for trial.

Psychiatric Evaluation Results

The District Prosecutor’s Office in Płock has received a forensic psychiatric opinion concerning Bartosz G., the primary suspect in the murder of 16-year-old Maja. A panel of five experts concluded there are no grounds to question the suspect’s sanity at the time of the crime.

The report confirms that the suspect was capable of recognizing the significance of his actions and controlling his conduct. Furthermore, his current mental state allows him to participate in legal proceedings and conduct his own defense.

Ongoing Prosecution and Custody

Following the delivery of the psychiatric assessment, the prosecutor has requested that the court extend the suspect’s temporary arrest for another three months. The suspect remains charged with murder involving exceptional cruelty.

Since being extradited to Poland in December 2025, Bartosz G. has not admitted to the charges and has refused to answer questions from the prosecutor or the court.

Chronology of the Investigation

The investigation began after 16-year-old Maja disappeared on April 23, 2025, while meeting a friend. Her body was discovered on May 1, 2025, in dense brush near railway tracks. Authorities quickly identified the 17-year-old suspect, who was apprehended in Greece the same day.

The formal observation order, issued by the Regional Court in Płock in February 2026, required the suspect to spend four weeks in a specialized facility. With the psychiatric report now complete, the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragedy continues.
