Morawiecki’s PiS Future Assessed: One Scenario Dominates Reader Poll Amid Parliamentary Split

A new reader poll reveals that most respondents believe former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki will remain in PiS, despite escalating internal tensions and the formation of a rival parliamentary club.

Growing Tensions and the Rise of Rozwój Plus

Just days ago, we reported on the mounting dispute within PiS surrounding the Rozwój Plus association and the refusal of certain politicians to sign the party loyalty pledge. Political scientist Dr. Maciej Onasz pointed out that the primary source of tension is the competition for spots on future electoral lists. Since then, events have accelerated as Mateusz Morawiecki announced the creation of the Rozwój Plus parliamentary club, designed to serve as the political base for his faction.

At the time the poll was published, a dispute was ongoing regarding the future of politicians associated with the Rozwój Plus association. A few days later, on July 29, Mateusz Morawiecki announced that, together with a group of 40 deputies and one senator, he was establishing the Rozwój Plus parliamentary club. He explained that it is intended to serve as a forum for political activity for the community previously centered around the association.

Reader Poll Results on Morawiecki Leaving PiS

In connection with the developments in PiS, we decided to give our readers a voice by asking whether they believe Morawiecki will leave PiS and found a new political party. The most common response was “definitely not,” chosen by 41.41 percent of participants. Not far behind, 33.13 percent indicated “rather not.” Meanwhile, 13.77 percent answered “definitely yes,” and 9.99 percent chose “rather yes.” The “no opinion” option was marked by 1.7 percent of voters. A total of 12,883 votes were cast in the poll, with results collected on July 29, 2026.

Internal PiS Proceedings and Party Discipline

The creation of the parliamentary club means that Mateusz Morawiecki’s faction will also conduct activities within its own parliamentary structure. The former Prime Minister emphasized that he does not want to focus on internal party disputes, but rather on developing political and programmatic initiatives.

At the same time, the formal situation of politicians associated with Rozwój Plus remains the subject of proceedings within PiS. The party’s Political Committee referred the case of individuals who failed to submit the required statements or did not do so in the proper form to the party’s discipline spokesperson. PiS spokesperson Rafał Bochenek noted that each case will be handled individually.

Ten-Pillar Program and Next Steps for the Initiative

Running parallel to the formation of the parliamentary club, Mateusz Morawiecki presented the Rozwój Plus program, which is based on ten main pillars. These include the development of nuclear energy, opposition to the migration pact and EU climate policy, further state digitization, infrastructure investments, and measures to ensure security and strengthen the economy. The former Prime Minister also announced talks with additional politicians interested in joining the initiative. Thus, the Rozwój Plus project enters a new phase of activity, functioning no longer solely as an association, but also as a parliamentary club operating in the Sejm.
