Müller Names “Conspirators” in PiS Working to Expel Morawiecki

PiS MEP Piotr Müller has accused a group of party figures of orchestrating a campaign to expel former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and dozens of MPs.

April Agreement on Associations

PiS MEP Piotr Müller recalled that in April, PiS leader Jarosław Kaczyński and former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki stated jointly that associations around Law and Justice should function and broaden the activity of the political, patriotic, and pro-state camp.

Such was the arrangement at the time, Müller said during a press conference, adding that for unknown reasons a group of conspirators had recently carried out an action trying to push Prime Minister Morawiecki and several dozen MPs out of Law and Justice.

Response to Non-Affiliation Declarations

PiS MP Robert Gontarz addressed the requirement for politicians to submit a statement by the end of the day regarding non-affiliation with political associations.

Gontarz stated that he and several dozen Law and Justice MPs did not sign the declaration because, having joined the party decades ago, there is no need to sign additional documents confirming their presence, while their loyalty remains unchanged. He noted that Morawiecki is approaching his meeting with Kaczyński with good will and a desire for agreement.

Conspiracy Within the Party

Müller identified Jacek Kurski, Jacek Sasin, and Patryk Jaki as three of the main individuals within Law and Justice trying to carry out the intrigue to expel Morawiecki.

He explained that despite the April agreement between Jarosław Kaczyński and Mateusz Morawiecki publicly permitting the “Rozwój Plus” association to continue operating, these individuals are pursuing the expulsion effort.

Jarosław Kaczyński is scheduled to meet Mateusz Morawiecki at the PiS headquarters on Thursday at 12:00. Morawiecki established the “Rozwój Plus” association, which was joined by about 40 parliamentarians, sparking an internal party conflict and an ultimatum requiring a choice between the party and the association by Thursday midnight.

Warning of Political Catastrophe

Müller warned that attempting to expel a group of several dozen Law and Justice MPs along with the longest-serving right-wing prime minister in Poland would simply be a catastrophe for their political formation, expressing hope that it will not happen.
