Off-duty community police officers in Warsaw’s Bemowo district intercepted a heavily intoxicated 58-year-old driver whose breath test revealed a blood alcohol content exceeding two promiles.

Once again, it is confirmed that one remains a police officer round the clock. Community police officers from the Bemowo police station, after finishing their shift, prevented a man from continuing to drive whose condition indicated he was under the influence of alcohol. Thanks to the decisive reaction of the officers, the irresponsible 58-year-old will not avoid criminal responsibility for his committed act.

Suspicious Behavior at the Intersection

Community police officers from the Warsaw Nowe Bemowo Police Station, after their shift ended, noticed a Ford that reached a traffic light at a Bemowo intersection. The driver stopped the vehicle and tried to get out with a unsteady movement. The officers immediately rushed toward him. As they approached the man, he was clinging desperately to the door of his vehicle, without shoes on one foot.

Keys Confiscated Due to Strong Alcohol Odor

During the conversation, the officers immediately smelled alcohol from the driver; the man explained that he got out of the car because he could not start the engine. The community officers secured the Ford’s keys and prevented the driver from continuing his journey.

The community officers called a police patrol to the scene, which arrested the drunk driver. A breathalyzer test showed that he had over two promiles of alcohol in his system. After gathering evidence, the suspect was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. He faces up to 3 years of imprisonment.

Commitment to Public Safety Beyond Working Hours

The attitude of the community officers once again shows that concern for the safety of residents does not end with the conclusion of a shift. Thanks to their vigilance and decisive reaction, it was possible to prevent a potential threat that the intoxicated driver could have posed on the road.
