Incident and Station Closures
The situation follows a Wednesday morning incident on Warsaw’s first metro line. A 22-year-old French citizen entered a tunnel, forcing an immediate halt to train traffic for several hours across a significant portion of the M1 line.
Due to the ongoing police investigation, the decision was made to close the Służew station. This move effectively suspends service across 10 stations, causing major disruptions for passengers using the line.
Security and Investigation
The 22-year-old suspect was detained by police. He has refused to answer questions or explain why he bypassed security measures to access the technical infrastructure.
Police are conducting an intensive search of the station, its facilities, and technical infrastructure. Authorities stated that because the man refused to cooperate, a more extensive security check is required to ensure the safety of passengers and staff.
Alternative Transit Arrangements
Warsaw Public Transport (WTP) has announced that as of 3:00 PM, M1 line trains are operating only between Młociny and Politechnika. Replacement bus service is being deployed between Metro Politechnika and Os. Kabaty, alongside a replacement tram line running from Metro Wilanowska to Pl. Narutowicza.
