On Thursday, July 9, police in the Tarnowskie Góry district engaged in a high-speed chase on the A1 highway after a driver ignored stop signals and attempted to flee the scene.

The Pursuit and Maneuvers
Officers from the Highway Police Station attempted to stop a Volkswagen driver shortly before 4:30 PM on Thursday. When the driver ignored light and siren signals, he attempted to evade the authorities by turning around and driving against the flow of traffic to re-enter the highway.
Police Intervention
Due to the immediate danger posed to others, officers fired warning shots into the air and targeted the vehicle’s tire, successfully immobilizing the car.
Arrest and Charges
The 40-year-old resident of Rydułtowy was found to have no driving privileges and a blood alcohol level of nearly 0.5 promille. With three passengers in the car and no injuries reported, the man faces up to five years in prison.
