President Nawrocki Promotes 21 Officers in New General Appointments

President Karol Nawrocki has appointed 21 officers to general and admiralty ranks, with the official presentation scheduled for Saturday during the Armed Forces Day celebrations.

New General and Admiralty Appointments Announced

President Karol Nawrocki has appointed 21 officers to general and admiralty ranks, as announced by the National Security Bureau (BBN). Among those promoted are Cyber Defence Forces Commander Gen. Mariusz Chmielewski, Air Force Inspector Gen. Tomasz Jatczak, and the commander of the Warsaw armored brigade, Col. Renart Skrzypczak.

The information regarding the general and admiralty nominations was published on social media by the National Security Bureau on Thursday. The nominations are set to be presented on Saturday during the Armed Forces Day celebrations. Earlier on Thursday, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz confirmed the nominations and their countersignature by the prime minister.

Promotions to Major General and Vice Admiral

Six brigadier generals have received promotions to the next general rank of major general: WOC commander Mariusz Chmielewski, Air Force Inspector in the General Command Tomasz Jatczak, Multinational Division North-East commander Rafał Kowalik, Ministry of National Defence budget department director Sławomir Kozicki, 11th Lubusz Armored Cavalry Division commander Sławomir Lidwa, and Ministry of National Defence infrastructure department director Jacek Sankowski.

Rear Admiral Piotr Sikora, Deputy Operational Commander of the Armed Forces, has been promoted to vice admiral, the naval equivalent of a major general.

First-Time General Appointments

Fourteen officers—including thirteen colonels and one commander—have received their first general rank as brigadier general and rear admiral respectively. These include Cmdr. Artur Kołaczyński, commander of the 8th Coastal Defence Flotilla; Col. Renart Skrzypczak, commander of the 1st Warsaw Armored Brigade; and Col. Dariusz Kwiatkowski, deputy commander of the Cyber Defence Forces Component.
