Conditional Approval for Tribunal Candidacy
Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced on Thursday that he has conditionally agreed to the departure of Maciej Berek from the government to allow him to run for the Constitutional Tribunal. Tusk emphasized that Berek is one of Poland’s most prominent practical legal experts, whose apolitical and non-partisan stance is his hallmark.
Leadership Changes at the Government Centre for Legislation
The Prime Minister previously announced on Tuesday that Berek would step down from his role as minister supervising the implementation of government policy. His duties will be taken over by Joanna Knapińska, the head of the Government Centre for Legislation.
Fixing the Defective Constitutional Tribunal
During Thursday’s press conference, Tusk stated that he knows no one better prepared than Berek to help fix the current situation regarding the defective Constitutional Tribunal.
