Prof. Nowak Claims Government Minister Has Ties to Long-Dead Gangster “Nikoś”

Professor Andrzej Nowak sparked widespread ridicule from Polish politicians after alleging that a current government minister is a close associate of the infamous gangster Nikodem “Nikoś” Skotarczak, who died 28 years ago.

The Allegations Against the Minister

While promoting his new book about presidential candidate Karol Nawrocki on “Kanał Zero,” Professor Andrzej Nowak criticized the media for how they portrayed his subject. Nowak alleged that while the media fixated on a pseudonymously written biography of “Nikoś” authored by Nawrocki, they ignored actual links between government officials and organized crime.

Nowak claimed that a deputy minister in Donald Tusk’s government is a close associate of “Nikoś.” When pressed for names, the professor refused to identify the individual, instead challenging investigative journalists to uncover the identity of the politician he was referencing.

Political Backlash and Mockery

The statement drew immediate scorn from political figures, given that Nikodem Skotarczak, a notorious criminal involved in car theft and smuggling, was killed in 1998. Deputy Justice Minister Arkadiusz Myrcha sarcastically requested that the person maintaining ties with the long-deceased gangster come forward.

Other politicians, including Dariusz Standerski and Tomasz Trela, joined in the mockery, noting the absurdity of the claim. Standerski joked that since he was in kindergarten when the gangster died, his relationship with “Nikoś” had remained unchanged ever since.

Sensational Claims Regarding Poisoning

The book promoted by Nowak also features claims made by Karol Nawrocki regarding a suspected poisoning attempt during his presidential campaign. Nawrocki alleges that he suddenly collapsed after a speech in Ząbkowice Śląskie, describing symptoms of severe physical distress, including vomiting and loss of consciousness.

Nawrocki suggests he was warned throughout the campaign by his security detail to exercise caution regarding potential attempts to poison him. These claims have been presented by Nowak as part of a series of unconventional narratives surrounding the candidate.
