Kukiz Misses Constitutional Council Meeting After Fall From Ladder

Kukiz will be absent from Friday’s inaugural meeting of the New Constitution Council at the Belvedere Palace due to multiple injuries sustained after falling while picking cherries.

Injuries prevent council appearance

The first meeting of the New Constitution Council is scheduled for Friday, July 10, at the Belvedere. Kukiz, who was invited by Karol Nawrocki, announced on X that he would not attend due to a broken arm, fractured ribs, and spinal process injuries resulting from a fall off a ladder while picking cherries.

Composition of the Council

President Nawrocki appointed the first members of the New Constitution Council on May 3. The initial cohort includes Marek Jurek, Prof. Ryszard Legutko, Prof. Anna Łabno, Dr. Hab. Ryszard Piotrowski, Józef Zych, Julia Przyłębska, and Barbara Piwnik.

Goals and future expansion

Nawrocki stated that the next phase involves appointing additional experts, constitutionalists, and legal professionals, as well as representatives from various parliamentary clubs. The council is tasked with preparing a draft of the constitution by the end of Nawrocki’s presidency.

Debate at the Presidential Palace

During the May 3 celebrations, Nawrocki expressed his gratitude to the members for joining the council. He emphasized that the diversity of the council’s backgrounds and worldviews ensures an honest debate regarding political and social responsibility and the continuity of the state.
