Overnight Missile Assault on Kyiv
Russia conducted a missile attack on the Ukrainian capital during the night from Friday to Saturday. Serhiy Popko, head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, confirmed the strike and urged residents to remain in secure locations.
Initial reports indicated damage to an unoccupied civilian building in the Dniprovskyi district and similar incidents in the Sviatoshynskyi district. In the Darnytskyi district, a transformer station caught fire, and shockwaves from the blast shattered windows in nearby residential buildings.
Casualties and Widespread Damage
Emergency services successfully extinguished a 4,000-square-meter fire at a critical infrastructure site in the Kyiv region. Further damage was reported in the Solomianskyi district, where a three-story office building caught fire, and in the Darnytskyi district, where a missile struck a roadway.
Kyiv police confirmed that at least eleven people were injured in the overnight attacks, including an 11-year-old boy. The strikes damaged residential properties, parked vehicles, and a pharmacy across four different districts of the capital.
Russian Claims Regarding Military Targets
The Russian Ministry of Defense stated that its forces carried out group strikes using long-range precision weapons and drones. Moscow claimed the primary targets were Ukrainian defense industry facilities involved in drone production and storage, as well as port infrastructure in Odesa, Chornomorsk, and Izmail.
Air Defense Operations Across Ukraine
The Ukrainian Air Force reported that Russia launched six Iskander-M/S-400 ballistic missiles, four Kh-59/69 cruise missiles, two Kh-31 anti-radar missiles, and 121 various types of drones.
Air defense systems successfully intercepted two Kh-59/69 missiles and 111 unmanned aerial vehicles, including Shahed, Gerber, and Italmas models, across the country. Officials recorded hits or falling debris in 14 locations nationwide.
