Serial Traffic Offender Escapes Custody After Flouting Driving Ban and Alcohol Limits

Otwock traffic police detained a 46-year-old Land Rover driver in Wiązowna who violated an active seven-year driving ban and drove after consuming alcohol while awaiting a prison sentence.

Traffic police officers from Otwock detained a 46-year-old man driving a Land Rover during a patrol in the municipality of Wiązowna. During the roadside check, it was revealed that the man was violating an active 7-year driving ban and was driving after using alcohol, leading to his immediate arrest and placement in a police cell.

History of Traffic Offenses

Investigators from Józefov, supervised by the Otwock District Prosecutor’s Office, analyzed the suspect’s background and found he had been repeatedly convicted under Article 244 of the Penal Code for breaking judicial bans, alongside numerous traffic safety offenses. Most egregiously, he committed this latest offense while awaiting the execution of a 10-month prison sentence for a similar crime.

Prosecutor’s Request for Detention

Given the suspect’s multiple convictions and blatant disregard for judicial rulings and public safety, the Otwock District Prosecutor’s Office petitioned the Otwock District Court for temporary arrest to completely isolate him from traffic. However, the court rejected the prosecutor’s motion and instead subjected the 46-year-old to police supervision.
