Serial Traffic Offender Jailed After Ignoring Five Bans

On July 17, 2026, Wołomin police arrested a 48-year-old Warsaw resident who was caught driving under the influence of alcohol while subject to five separate judicial driving prohibitions.

Caught in the Act

Officers from the Wołomin County Police Department noticed a Volkswagen driver acting suspiciously on Żelazna Street. Upon spotting the police cruiser, the man immediately diverted to a parking lot and stopped the vehicle.

During the ensuing identity check, officers confirmed the 48-year-old driver was operating the vehicle despite having five active, court-ordered bans on driving any motor vehicles.

Legal Consequences for Driver and Owner

In addition to the driving bans, breathalyzer tests revealed the man was driving after consuming alcohol, constituting a traffic offense. He was taken into custody immediately.

Police also determined the passenger was the vehicle’s owner. The owner received a fine for allowing an unauthorized person to operate the car on a public road.

Court-Ordered Detention

Following procedural actions, the suspect was charged under Article 244 of the Penal Code for violating court-ordered driving bans, an offense committed as a recidivist. At the request of the Wołomin District Prosecutor’s Office, the court ordered the man to be held in temporary detention for three months.

Authorities reminded the public that violating a judicial driving ban is a serious crime, punishable by imprisonment ranging from three months to five years.
