Emergency Interventions and Casualty Reports
On Sunday, the State Fire Service confirmed it had responded to over 820 incidents caused by passing storms. The highest volume of events occurred in the Silesian (254), Lublin (216), and Lesser Poland (200) voivodeships.
In Targanice, a tree fell onto a horse-drawn carriage carrying twelve people, injuring five adults, though their lives are not in danger. In Bielsko-Bia艂a, a tree branch collapsed onto a municipal bus, and another vehicle was struck by a falling tree, causing no injuries. Additionally, water rescue services reported that two boats capsized on Lake 呕ywiecki.
Visual Evidence of Hail and Flooding
Social media users have shared photos and videos showing massive hail stones in locations such as Skocz贸w and Bia艂y Dunajec. Furthermore, MP 艁ukasz Kmita published footage of a cloudburst occurring near Krakow along the Zakopianka road.
Government Security Center Alerts
The Government Security Center (RCB) issued alerts on Sunday for parts of the 艢wi臋tokrzyskie, Masovian, 艁贸dzkie, Lower Silesian, Greater Poland, Lublin, and Subcarpathian voivodeships, as well as all districts within the Lesser Poland, Silesian, and Opole voivodeships.
The message sent to residents warns of storms accompanied by hail and strong winds, advising people to secure loose items due to the risk of power outages.
Meteorological Institute Warnings
The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW) has issued first, second, and third-degree warnings covering 12 voivodeships. The first-degree alerts, valid until midnight, anticipate rainfall between 20 mm and 35 mm and wind gusts reaching 85 km/h.
The second-degree alerts, in effect until 10:00 PM, cover the Opole, Silesian, and Lesser Poland voivodeships, as well as parts of Lower Silesian, Greater Poland, 艁贸dzkie, and 艢wi臋tokrzyskie. These areas may experience rainfall up to 35 mm and wind gusts locally reaching 100 km/h, accompanied by hail.
