Son Sentenced to 18 Years for Fatal Attack on Father with Speaker

The Ostrołęka Regional Court has sentenced 35-year-old Daniel N. to 18 years in prison for the 2024 murder of his father, Marek N., in Ostrów Mazowiecka, using a loudspeaker as a weapon.

The Verdict and Legal Proceedings

On June 9, 2026, the Ostrołęka Regional Court handed down an 18-year prison sentence to Daniel N. for the murder of his father, Marek N. The ruling is not yet final, and both parties have the right to request a written justification before filing an appeal with the Białystok Court of Appeal.

The prosecutor’s office stated that the court fully supported the arguments presented in the indictment. The defendant was convicted under Article 148 §1 of the Penal Code.

A Night of Alcohol and Violence

The tragic events occurred on January 23, 2024. After a day of drinking alcohol and running errands together, Daniel N. and his father, Marek N., returned home. Following an alleged physical altercation, Daniel N. discovered his father unresponsive on the floor with head injuries.

The defendant attempted to perform CPR on his father before contacting a friend, claiming he had killed him. He subsequently called emergency services, and medical personnel confirmed the death of Marek N. upon arrival.

Forensic Evidence and Cause of Death

At the time of his arrest, Daniel N. had a blood alcohol content of 1.29 per mille. A forensic examination revealed that the victim suffered massive facial, cranial, and internal injuries caused by approximately 10 heavy blows from a blunt object.

The prosecutor’s office identified the murder weapon as a music speaker. The cause of death was determined to be hemorrhagic and traumatic shock combined with airway obstruction.
