Survey reveals widespread dissatisfaction
Public opinion regarding the Polish healthcare system was measured in a recent reader poll. The results were overwhelming, with 2,907 participants—88.49 percent—rating the system’s performance as negative. Only 245 respondents, representing 7.46 percent, expressed a positive view, while 133 people remained undecided.
The survey, which collected 3,285 total votes as of June 26, 2026, follows the case of Dawid Kacprzyk, a former emergency department coordinator at the Southern Hospital. Reports allege that an unofficial patient intake path was created for Civic Coalition politicians and their relatives, leading to Kacprzyk’s resignation, his termination from the hospital, and the dismissal of the facility’s management board by Warsaw authorities.
Former surgeon alleges procedural irregularities
On June 23, Emil Jędrzejewski, the former head of surgery at the Southern Hospital, spoke on Kanał Zero regarding alleged irregularities at the facility. He claimed that the organization of the emergency department and the execution of medical procedures were flawed, resulting in some patients being left without proper care for extended periods.
In response, Dorota Łoboda, spokesperson for the Civic Coalition parliamentary club, stated on TVP Info that she was shocked by the revelations. She announced that inspections would be conducted to verify if patients were admitted according to medical triage protocols and confirmed that medical documentation is likely already secured.
Prosecutorial investigation underway
The Ministry of Justice and Prosecutor General Waldemar Żurek have initiated a formal response to these claims. Żurek announced that Emil Jędrzejewski will be summoned for questioning to gather information regarding potential medical errors and facility mismanagement.
The investigation includes plans to secure all evidence mentioned by the physician and a re-analysis of past cases involving patient deaths at the hospital. If evidence emerges that these concerns were previously reported to municipal authorities, prosecutors may also examine the involvement of Warsaw Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski.
