Unlike standard retirement pensions, the honorary benefit does not require any specific work history or paid social security contributions. Individuals who have never been legally employed and have not qualified for a minimum pension are still eligible for the full amount based solely on their age.

Automatic Payments and Application Requirements

Most eligible seniors receive this benefit automatically as ZUS processes the data internally. However, certain exceptions exist where an application must be submitted. This can be handled by the individual or an authorized representative, such as a family member, no earlier than 30 days before the 100th birthday.

Impact on Other Benefits

The honorary benefit is entirely independent of other social support systems. Receiving this payment does not disqualify a senior from collecting their standard pension, the 13th-month pension, or the 14th-month pension, as it is treated as a distinct supplement.
