Tragedy at Zwoleń Reservoir: 8-Year-Old Drowns While Father Is Intoxicated

An 8-year-old boy drowned yesterday evening at the Zwoleń reservoir, where a swimming ban was in effect, while under the supervision of his father, who was found to be intoxicated.

Search and Rescue Operation

Yesterday at approximately 6:40 PM, the Zwoleń County Police received a report regarding a missing 8-year-old boy at the local reservoir. Police, firefighters, and bystanders immediately launched an extensive land and water search.

Recovery and Medical Intervention

The boy was pulled from the water at around 7:20 PM. Resuscitation efforts were conducted by medical rescuers, firefighters, and an Air Ambulance team, but the child could not be saved.

Ongoing Investigation

Prosecutorial proceedings continued late into the night. Police are investigating the circumstances, noting that the swimming area was closed and the father had a blood alcohol content exceeding 0.5 promille.

Authorities urge the public to use only guarded swimming areas, obey all bans, and ensure children are never left without direct adult supervision. Responsibility remains the primary factor in preventing such tragedies.
