Trespassers Detained After Climbing Gdański Bridge Pillars

Railway Security and police intervened on Friday afternoon to detain a group of individuals who were illegally walking on the concrete structural pillars of Warsaw’s Gdański Bridge.

Unauthorized Entry on Bridge Infrastructure

On Friday, June 26, at approximately 3:00 PM, emergency services responded to reports of a group of people trespassing on the pillars of the Gdański Bridge in Warsaw. Despite clear prohibitions, the individuals were walking on the concrete bases of the crossing, which are not intended for public access.

Police and Railway Security Intervention

Railway Security (SOK) officers, along with river police and officers from the railway precinct, were dispatched to the scene. The river police were positioned beneath the bridge to provide immediate rescue support in the event of a fall into the Vistula River, as the risk of injury was considered imminent.

Legal Consequences for Trespassers

Following the detention of the group, officers from the railway police station processed the individuals. The adults involved were issued fines of 500 PLN, while the parents of the minor involved were contacted and called to the scene.

Risks Posed by the Vistula

Walking on structural elements of bridges poses a severe risk to life and health, as a simple slip or loss of balance can lead to a fatal fall. This incident follows a tragic event on June 21, when a young boy disappeared under the water near the same bridge, highlighting the persistent dangers of the Vistula River’s currents.
