Ząbki Building Fire Investigation Closed: 27 Million PLN Loss, No Charges

The Warsaw-Praga District Prosecutor’s Office has officially discontinued the investigation into the July 3, 2025, residential fire in Ząbki, which resulted in property damages exceeding 27 million PLN.

Official Termination of Proceedings

On June 24, 2026, the Warsaw-Praga District Prosecutor issued a formal decision to close the investigation into the fire at the residential building on Powstańców 62 street in Ząbki. The inquiry had been active since July 4, 2025, and was conducted in coordination with the Metropolitan Police Headquarters.

Evidence Collection and Witness Testimony

Procedural activities began with the questioning of over 350 witnesses to document the fire’s origin and progression. Investigators secured photos and videos provided by residents and witnesses, alongside public appeals for additional footage, including recordings from television stations and surveillance systems.

Forensic Analysis and Site Inspection

Post-fire inspections involved five teams utilizing drones to survey inaccessible areas of the structure. Experts from the Fire Academy in Warsaw were commissioned to analyze the causes of the blaze, while documentation regarding the building’s construction, commissioning, and maintenance was obtained from the building manager, AMS, and the Wołomin District Building Inspectorate.

Security and Sabotage Review

The investigation expanded beyond the immediate cause of the fire to include the building’s safety standards and commissioning process. Officials specifically reviewed the possibility of sabotage given the regional political climate, but no evidence was found to support such claims.
