ZUS Support Benefit: Thousands of Polish Pensioners Eligible for Monthly Cash Boost

Over a million Polish pensioners can now receive additional monthly support payments ranging from 791 PLN to over 4,350 PLN, regardless of their current income or employment status.

Eligibility and the New Point System

Current regulations have opened access to ZUS support benefits for over one million seniors. These funds are provided independently of existing pensions, with no income limits or requirements to resign from active work. The program is designed to assist those struggling with chronic illness, physical mobility limitations, or the loss of independence.

The program’s reach has expanded following a reduction in the required point threshold. To qualify, individuals must be assessed as having a support need level of at least 70 points on a 100-point scale. This adjustment allows the system to support individuals with moderate functional limitations rather than focusing exclusively on extreme cases.

Financial Breakdown of Benefits

The support benefit amount is linked to the social pension, which rose to 1,978.49 PLN gross following the March 2026 indexation. Depending on the assessed level of need, recipients receive a percentage of this amount: 40% for 70–74 points (791.40 PLN), 60% for 75–79 points (1,187.10 PLN), 80% for 80–84 points (1,582.80 PLN), 120% for 85–89 points (2,374.20 PLN), 180% for 90–94 points (3,561.30 PLN), and 220% for 95–100 points (4,352.70 PLN).

Application Procedure and Requirements

Payments are not granted automatically; beneficiaries or their legal representatives must complete a formal application process. The system is fully digitized, with three electronic pathways available for submitting the necessary documentation to ZUS. These funds are intended to help cover rising costs for medical supplies, rehabilitation, and private care services.
