Poland’s Energy Minister announced maximum fuel prices for Friday, with gasoline 95 at 6.04 złoty per liter and diesel at 7.18 złoty.
Maximum Fuel Prices Announced
The Polish Energy Minister has announced the maximum fuel prices for Friday. Gasoline 95 will cost no more than 6.04 złoty per liter, gasoline 98 no more than 6.59 złoty, and diesel oil no more than 7.18 złoty.
These maximum prices at stations are lower than those in effect on Thursday.
Thursday’s Fuel Prices
On Thursday, the maximum price for a liter of gasoline 95 was 6.08 złoty, gasoline 98 was 6.61 złoty, and diesel oil was 7.23 złoty.
Prices on Introduction of Maximum Limits
On March 31st, the first day of the introduction of maximum prices, a liter of gasoline 95 cost a maximum of 6.16 złoty, gasoline 98 cost 6.76 złoty, and diesel oil cost 7.60 złoty.
Future Price Announcements
The next announcement from the Energy Minister regarding fuel prices will be published on Friday and will determine the prices for Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.
Regulations and Penalties
According to regulations, the energy ministry publishes an announcement regarding maximum fuel prices every weekday. The maximum price is valid from the day following its publication in the Polish Monitor. If announced before non-working days and holidays, the rate applies until the next working day inclusive. Selling above the maximum price is punishable by a fine of up to 1 million złoty, and controls are carried out by the National Tax Administration.
Price Calculation Formula
The maximum price is determined according to a specific formula, including the average wholesale price of fuels on the domestic market, plus excise duty, fuel fee, a sales margin of 0.30 złoty per liter, and VAT.
VAT and Excise Duty Reductions
A regulation reducing VAT on fuel from 23% to 8% and a regulation reducing excise duty are in effect until April 30th. Excise duty has been reduced to 29 groszy per liter of gasoline and 28 groszy per liter of diesel oil, which is the lowest level permitted by the European Union.
