A Krakow police officer remains in critical condition after a patrol car veered onto railway tracks during a high-speed pursuit of a motorcyclist who fled the scene on foot.
The Pursuit and Accident
Krakow police attempted to stop a motocross rider performing stunts on a single wheel shortly before 8:00 PM on Friday. The driver refused to stop, prompting a patrol to initiate a pursuit.
At the intersection of Wegrzynowicka and Splawy streets, the patrol vehicle veered off an embankment and onto railway tracks. The male driver was critically injured and airlifted to a hospital, while his female colleague sustained bruising.
Arrest and Investigation
The suspect abandoned his motorcycle and attempted to escape on foot but was detained shortly thereafter. Witnesses reported that the man had been driving recklessly in the area for some time.
Fatal Motocross Accident in Rokiciny
Separately, a 15-year-old girl died on May 24 after crashing a motocross bike into a tree on private property in Rokiciny, Bytow County. Despite resuscitation efforts, the teenager succumbed to her injuries.
Police and a prosecutor have secured evidence and surveillance footage at the site of the fatal crash. The girl’s body has been secured for an autopsy as the investigation continues.
