A Polish court sentenced a former nursing home employee and her husband for filming and publishing a nude video of a resident, with a suspended jail term and fines.

Nursing Home Scandal: Convictions Handed Down

A former employee of the Social Welfare Home in Pułtusk, along with her husband, has been convicted by a court for recording and publishing a video of a nude resident online. Both were ordered to apologize to the victim and pay a fine of 7,000 złoty each.

The court imposed a six-month suspended prison sentence on Karolina K. and Rafał K., with a one-year probationary period. They are also required to issue a public apology within one month of the verdict becoming final.

Investigation and Earlier Verdicts

The District Prosecutor’s Office in Ostrołęka deemed the verdict issued by the Pułtusk Regional Court as just. Another employee, Aneta K., previously pleaded guilty and accepted a sentence for her involvement in the recording.

Aneta K. received a six-month restriction of liberty, requiring 20 hours of unpaid community service per month. She was also ordered to pay 7,000 złoty in compensation to the victim and issue an apology.

How the Incident Unfolded

In September 2023, two employees at the Social Welfare Home in Pułtusk used a mobile phone to record a resident during a bath. The recording captured the woman’s nude figure and was shared with another individual before appearing on a social media platform.

The couple faced charges of surreptitiously capturing the nude image of the resident, while the husband was accused of disseminating the image via social media without consent. The husband denied the charges and refused to provide a statement.

Media Coverage and Investigation

The case gained public attention in December 2023 after being reported by the local portal Pultusk24.pl, which described receiving “shocking materials” related to the incident. The portal reported that the recording was posted on the husband’s private Facebook profile for approximately 30 minutes before being removed.

Following media reports, the prosecutor’s office launched an investigation both officially and in response to a notification from the nursing home’s management. The investigation was initially conducted in Pułtusk before being transferred to the District Prosecutor’s Office in Ostrowi Mazowiecka.
