Beata Jerzman, the mayor of Stara Kornica, was attacked with a knife on Wednesday, April 29th, at the municipal office in Łosice County. The 42-year-old assailant injured the mayor before 4:00 PM and was subsequently apprehended by authorities.
The injured mayor was airlifted by the Polish Medical Air Rescue (LPR) to a hospital for urgent medical attention.
Details of the Incident
According to Weronika Wujek, a spokesperson for the Łosice County Police Headquarters, the 42-year-old man attacked the mayor with a knife. The mayor required immediate medical assistance and was transported to the hospital by LPR.
Suspect’s Identity and Injuries
The attacker is reportedly an employee of the local Municipal Selective Waste Collection Point (PSZOK). The mayor sustained knife wounds to the neck and kidney area.
Emergency Response
Emergency services responded to the scene, including paramedics from Platerów, firefighters from Łosice JRG, and volunteers from the OSP Nowa Kornica. The Polish Medical Air Rescue helicopter was also dispatched to the municipal office.
Apprehension and Investigation
The attacker was subdued by municipal employees and then handed over to the police. A breathalyzer test indicated the suspect was sober. His identity has not been released.
Mayor’s Condition
Beata Jerzman was taken to the Mazovian Provincial Hospital in Siedlce. Her condition is stable, and her life is not in danger, but she is expected to undergo surgery.

Police are investigating the incident. As of now, the motive for the attack and any formal charges against the suspect have not been officially announced. Investigators are working to determine the exact sequence of events.
