Polish Survey Reveals Sharp Divide Over EU SAFE Program

New polling shows 20.5% of Poles view the SAFE program as beneficial, while 39% see it as harmful, with political affiliation strongly influencing opinions.

Political Divide on SAFE

According to a new survey, 20.5% of respondents believe the SAFE program will be very beneficial for Poland, while 39% hold the opposite view. Attitudes toward the program are strongly linked to political sympathies.

The biggest supporters of SAFE are those identifying with the left, with 72.7% evaluating the program positively. Only 13.2% of left-wing voters express a negative opinion.

Right-Wing Opposition

On the political right, the proportions are reversed, with 69.4% believing the program is unfavorable for Poland. Only 24.2% of respondents from this group see potential benefits.

Educational and Social Factors

The survey reveals a clear correlation between evaluation of the SAFE program and factors such as education level, wealth, and social position. Higher levels of education and social capital correspond to greater tendency to recognize SAFE as beneficial.

Generational Differences

Older generations are more decisive in their evaluation of the program, with more frequent positive assessments. Younger people tend to express skepticism or lack a clear opinion on the SAFE program.

Declining Support Over Time

A few days earlier, the same research center conducted a different survey on SAFE, asking about support for Poland’s participation in the program. At that time, 52% of respondents declared support, while 35% expressed opposition. Within a few days, the number of SAFE supporters decreased while opponents increased.

Survey Methodology

The survey was conducted by CBOS using computer-assisted telephone interviews (CATI) on March 9-11, 2026, on a representative national sample of 1000 people over 18 years of age.

Presidential Palace Protests

Opponents of Karol Nawrocki’s decision to veto the EU SAFE program gathered at the Presidential Palace. Demonstrators demanded increased military funding and chanted slogans criticizing the head of state.
