Senator Suspended: PiS Member Accuses Party of Ignoring Protocol

Senator Jacek Włosowicz expressed regret over his suspension from PiS, stating a simple phone call or message could have prevented the public announcement.

Senator Criticizes Party Communication

Jacek Włosowicz believes a phone call, email, or SMS would have been sufficient communication regarding his suspension, suggesting a lack of basic courtesy within the party.

He added that the party’s current state allows for such actions, implying a disregard for established norms.

Disagreement with PiS Spokesperson

Włosowicz disputed remarks made by PiS spokesperson Rafał Bochenek, stating he is not part of Bochenek’s “social circle.” He suggests this may be why Bochenek didn’t contact him before publicly announcing the suspension.

Bochenek’s Response and Włosowicz’s Past Affiliations

Bochenek noted Włosowicz hasn’t been a PiS member since 2011, claiming his recent statements indicate a shift in allegiance towards Donald Tusk. Włosowicz dismissed these claims, suggesting the spokesperson may be speaking hastily.

Włosowicz was a PiS member from 2002-2011, later joining Solidarna Polska, founded by Zbigniew Ziobro after leaving PiS. He was expelled from Solidarna Polska in 2022 and ran on the PiS list in the 2023 parliamentary elections, currently being non-partisan.

Shift Towards Nationalism Within PiS

Włosowicz recently stated in a TVN24 interview that PiS is becoming a “nationalist party,” a sentiment he reiterated. He believes this negative shift has been apparent for several months.

He argues that individuals from Solidarna Polska, integrated into PiS, have exerted significant influence over the party’s messaging, leading to a change in its character towards nationalism, including attempts to distance itself from international organizations and strained relations with neighbors.

Hope for Party’s Recovery

Włosowicz expressed his desire to remain within the PiS Senate club, hoping the party will “recover” and return to its core program, avoiding tactical appeals to the far-right.

Influence of the Party’s Right Wing

Włosowicz believes that those who previously formed the Solidarna Polska environment, after being accepted into PiS, created its hard right wing, which has gained primary influence over the party’s media messaging.
