Trump Convenes Situation Room for Final Decision on Iran

Following reports of a diplomatic breakthrough, President Donald Trump announced on Friday, May 29, that he is meeting with top officials in the White House Situation Room to determine the next steps regarding Iran.

Final Decision Pending

“There will be no money exchange for now. Other, much less significant matters have been agreed upon. I am meeting in the Situation Room now to make a final decision,” Trump stated on Friday, May 29. The White House Situation Room remains the primary hub for U.S. presidential decision-making during major national crises.

Security and Clearing the Strait of Hormuz

Trump confirmed that all remaining sea mines in the Strait of Hormuz will be cleared, noting that U.S. forces have already neutralized several through detonation. The president announced that the U.S. expects Iran to handle the complete removal of remaining ordnance from the waters.

“Ships stuck in the strait due to our unprecedented naval blockade, which is now being lifted, can begin their journey home,” the president added, addressing the affected crews.

Nuclear Stockpile Disposal

The president announced that Iran’s enriched uranium stockpiles, which he described as “nuclear dust,” will be removed and destroyed. This operation will be coordinated between the United States, Iran, and the International Atomic Energy Agency, with Trump noting that only the U.S. and China possess the technical capability to manage the process.

Diplomatic Agreement Reached

U.S. and Iranian negotiators have reached a framework agreement to end hostilities, according to reports confirmed by administration sources on Thursday. The terms include a 60-day extension of the ceasefire and the commencement of formal negotiations regarding Iran’s nuclear program.
