Polish and internal security services jointly apprehended a 44-year-old Ukrainian national, a high-ranking figure in a post-Soviet mafia network, in Warsaw.
Joint Operation Leads to Arrest
A collaborative effort between the Warsaw Wola Criminal Department and the Internal Security Agency (ABW) resulted in the apprehension of the wanted 44-year-old Ukrainian citizen.
The man was residing in Poland illegally and has been transferred to the Warsaw Border Guard post following initial procedures.
Targeted Effort Against Organized Crime
The operation aimed to identify and remove from Poland an individual linked to international organized crime.
“Vor v Zakone” Status
The suspect held the status of “Vor v Zakone” – a title given to highly influential criminals within mafia structures originating from the former Soviet Union.
While direct crimes committed in Poland may not always be attributable to these individuals, their presence is considered a potential security threat by authorities.
Criminal History and High-Ranking Position
Investigations revealed the 44-year-old had a prominent position within post-Soviet organized crime and had previously been convicted of serious offenses, including murder.
His activities involved operating within criminal structures and participating in conflicts between criminal groups.
Apprehension in Warsaw Hotel
Following detailed investigations, the Ukrainian citizen, subject to a Schengen area entry refusal, was located in a Warsaw hotel.
He was arrested and taken to the Wola police station before being handed over to the Warsaw Border Guard.
