Marek Lipiński, a journalist and manager with Polish Radio for 54 years, passed away on April 27th at the age of 84.
Long Career at Polish Radio
Polish Radio announced Lipiński’s death on Monday, April 27th. He had been associated with the broadcaster since 1964, remaining there until 2018.
Throughout his career, Lipiński advanced to leadership positions, serving as program director, a member of the Polish Radio Board, and an analyst.
From 1998 to 2004, he headed the Polish Radio Information Agency.
Personal Life
Marek Lipiński was married to music journalist Maria Szabłowska of Polish Radio’s Jedynka.
They met at work, where he was initially her supervisor, and married in 2011.
Tributes
“One of the best bosses I ever had,” Roman Czejarek wrote, adding, “Thank you, Marek! Mario, we are with you.”
Program 1 of Polish Radio conveyed its “most sincere condolences” to Maria Szabłowska.
Academic Activities
In addition to his editorial and managerial work, Lipiński was involved in academia.
He lectured at the Higher School of Communication and Social Media named after Jerzy Giedroyc in Warsaw.
