Water leak at Kondratowicza metro station on February 6 triggered false fire alarm, closing station and disrupting M2 line.
False Alarm
On Friday, February 6, around 19:00, an automatic smoke alarm was triggered at Kondratowicza metro station on line M2. Firefighters responded but found no fire – the alarm was caused by water vapor from a leak.
Investigation
The water was seeping from one of the station’s walls, and when it came into contact with the cold air, it created vapor that the system mistook for smoke. Initially, three fire brigades secured the area, with two remaining on site after confirming no fire hazard.
Response
Water utility teams were called to locate the damage and shut off the water supply. The station remains closed as repairs continue, with no specific timeline provided for its reopening.
Service Disruptions
The closure has forced metro line M2 to operate only between Bemowo and Trocka stations. A bus replacement service, line Z ZA METRO, has been introduced to connect affected passengers along the route from Metro Bródno 14 to Metro Trocka 02.
