Ziobro Vows to Fight Tusk From Anywhere, Including Prison

Zbigniew Ziobro, a former Polish justice minister granted international protection in Hungary, declared he will continue his fight against Prime Minister Donald Tusk regardless of his location.

Magyar Vows No Haven for Wanted Criminals, Hints at Ziobro Extradition

Peter Magyar, leader of the victorious Tisza party in Hungary, stated his country will not become a “dumping ground” for internationally wanted criminals. He indicated that Zbigniew Ziobro and his deputy, Marcin Romanowski, would not remain in Hungary for long, reiterating promises made during the campaign regarding their potential extradition.

Ziobro Prepared for Battle, Even From Behind Bars

When questioned on Tuesday, April 14th, about the possibility of extradition following the change in government in Hungary, Zbigniew Ziobro responded that he is “always ready to fight for the truth.” He affirmed he would “fight with Prime Minister Donald Tusk” – “wherever I am.”

Defiance and Political Gamesmanship

Ziobro stated that even if Donald Tusk were to become the “alpha male” he desires and attempt to use him for political maneuvering to distract from issues like healthcare and Poland’s debt, he would continue to fight, “even being locked in prison.”

Future Uncertain, Legal Procedures a Factor

Asked about remaining in Hungary, Ziobro stated, “time will tell.” He pointed to Hungarian legal procedures, which he believes “bind Mr. Magyar,” and expressed hope that the Hungarian system would make decisions based on facts, which he described as “very little optimistic for Donald Tusk and his request.”

Concerns About Judicial Independence and Potential US Escape

Ziobro indicated he would analyze the situation, expressing concern about potential judicial issues similar to those in Poland. When asked about the possibility of traveling to the United States, he stated he could not rule it out, jokingly suggesting a plane was waiting for him.

International Protection and Polish Charges

Both Zbigniew Ziobro and Marcin Romanowski have received international protection in Hungary. Polish prosecutors have filed charges against them in connection with irregularities in the Justice Fund. Ziobro faces the possibility of 26 criminal charges, and a European Arrest Warrant has been issued for Romanowski, with a request also submitted for Ziobro.
