ZUS Increases Energy Allowance to 336 PLN for Eligible Seniors

Starting March 2026, ZUS will provide a monthly energy lump sum of 336.16 PLN to eligible seniors to assist with electricity, gas, and heating costs.

Energy and Gas Support

From March 2026, the energy lump sum will be exactly 336.16 PLN monthly, an increase of over 23 PLN compared to the previous year. This benefit is indexed annually to account for inflation and the rising cost of living.

The funds are specifically designated to assist with the costs of electricity, gas, and heating. Crucially, ZUS does not check household income or pension amounts, meaning the full support is available to anyone within the eligible groups.

Eligibility Criteria

While these funds are intended for seniors, not every retiree is eligible. Under current regulations, the energy lump sum is available to combatants, persecuted persons, soldiers of compulsory military service, and widows or widowers of combatants or authorized military personnel.

Continuity for Widows and Widowers

This benefit can be “inherited” by a surviving spouse. If a deceased spouse was entitled to the energy lump sum, a widow or widower may apply to have the payments continued into their own account.

Application Process

Payments are not issued automatically and require the completion of formal procedures. To receive the allowance, applicants must fill out the ZUS-ERK form and attach supporting documentation, such as a decision from the Combatants Affairs Office or certificates from military authorities.

Annual Value and Taxation

Although the monthly amount of 336.16 PLN may seem modest, it totals 4,033.92 PLN annually. This supplement is entirely tax-free, and the amount specified in the ZUS decision is the exact amount that will be paid via bank transfer or by mail.
