Court Confirms Multiple Welfare Benefits Can Be Granted to a Single Person

A recent judicial ruling clarifies that a single individual is eligible to receive multiple types of social assistance from MOPS to cover various essential living expenses.

Multiple Benefits for Single Households

A court ruling has confirmed that a single individual can receive multiple types of benefits from the Social Assistance Center (MOPS). In one documented case, a recipient obtained six different benefits within a few months to cover food, medical treatments, rent, clothing, and footwear.

Dispute Over Insufficient Funding

The beneficiary challenged the social assistance center not because she was denied aid, but because the benefit amounts were too low. She specifically appealed a 200 PLN food benefit, requesting 1,000 PLN to better address her severe health and material situation.

Health and Economic Circumstances

The recipient, who manages a single-person household, is unemployed due to chronic health issues that require regular psychiatric care and hospitalization. Despite receiving various aids, her financial resources remain insufficient to cover all essential living and housing costs.

Legal Authority and Budgetary Limits

Under Article 39 of the Social Assistance Act, benefits can be granted for a wide range of essential needs. However, the Supreme Administrative Court has noted that assistance centers must operate within their budget limits to ensure they can provide protection to all citizens in need.
