Polish police and border guards seized 49 kilograms of marijuana in Piaseczno County and arrested two men, aged 53 and 45, who are now in custody.
Joint Operation Leads to Drug Seizure
A collaborative effort between the Warsaw Police Headquarters and the Nadwiślański Border Guard District resulted in the discovery and seizure of a large shipment of narcotics, totaling 49 kilograms.
The operation also identified the location where the drugs were stored.
Surveillance and Initial Pursuit
Police from the Warsaw Police Headquarters’ Anti-Drug Crime Department and officers from the Nadwiślański Border Guard District’s Operational and Investigative Department conducted surveillance in Piaseczno County, based on information suggesting drug trafficking activity at a specific address.
Officers observed a vehicle with Slovak license plates, and two men exiting the car, donning gloves, and carrying four sports bags from a building.
Arrest and Vehicle Damage
Despite attempts to stop them with lights and sirens, the driver of the Audi fled, damaging a police car blocking an intersection. The 45-year-old passenger attempted to escape on foot but was quickly apprehended.
The 53-year-old driver locked himself inside the vehicle and frantically searched near the seat. Officers were forced to break a window to remove him.
Evidence Recovered
A search of the vehicle and the suspects’ properties yielded a total of 49 kilograms of marijuana (20 kg in the car, 29 kg at the location), over 80,000 Polish złoty in cash, four mobile phones, and a package containing a white, powdery substance.
Charges and Detention
The men were taken into police custody in Piaseczno. Both the 53-year-old and the 45-year-old have been charged with possession of a significant quantity of narcotics.
Following a request from the Piaseczno District Prosecutor’s Office, the court ordered a three-month pre-trial detention for both suspects.
