A burning truck collided with a toll booth on the A2 highway in Tarnawa Rzepińska, Lubusz Region, killing its driver.
Investigation into the A2 Accident
According to RMF FM, investigators found no braking traces near the toll booth at the scene of the Saturday accident. “Preliminary findings indicate there was no factor that created a hazard before the collision. The most likely explanation is health-related issues of the driver,” reported Rmf24.pl. The truck driver’s body will be removed for autopsy on Tuesday.
Tragic Highway Collision
The incident occurred on Saturday, August 23, after 10 p.m. in Tarnawa Rzepińska, Lubusz Region. The Lubusz fire department confirmed a truck drove into the toll booth, overturned, and was engulfed in flames. “The driver died at the scene. Firefighters secured the area and extinguished the fire. Units from JRG Sulęcin, OSP Torzym, OSP Gądków Wlk., and OSP Boczów participated,” stated the fire department.

Remiza.pl published a video of the crash on its X account. Rafał Sobczak, a junior brigadier from the Sulęcin fire department, noted the truck was carrying tulip saplings and “completely burned” after the collision. “No toll operators were injured,” he added.
Disruptions on A2 Highway
The A2 highway toward Poznań was fully blocked after the accident. Traffic to Świecko resumed early Sunday with minimal disruptions. By 10 a.m., all restrictions at the scene were lifted. After firefighters concluded their operations, traffic police and a specialized investigative team conducted site inspections under the prosecutor’s supervision. The highway remained closed during these procedures.
