Record Military Spending Proposed for 2027
The U.S. budgetary assumptions for 2027 reveal a proposed Pentagon expenditure of $1.5 trillion, a record amount for military spending. Trump views defense as the nation’s top priority for the coming year, surpassing healthcare and social welfare.
Trump-Class Battleships to Become Reality
Trump-class battleships are poised to become a reality, envisioned as formidable warships. These vessels, with a potential displacement of up to 40,000 tons, will be equipped with cruise and hypersonic missiles, nuclear capabilities, and magnetic and laser weaponry.
Defense Spending Prioritized Over Social Programs
According to President Trump, defense will be the United States’ top priority in the coming year, taking precedence over healthcare and social services. Funding for existing benefits will be shifted to state authorities to free up funds for military expansion. Some military funding will also come from cuts to renewable energy investments.
“We are fighting wars. We are not in a position to provide daycare, Medicaid, Medicare and all of these individual things,” President Trump stated.
Navy to Receive Significant Investment
The Navy is slated to receive a substantial portion of the military investment, with $68 billion allocated for new ships. This funding will support the construction of 34 new vessels as part of the “Restoring America’s Maritime Dominance” program, including 18 warships and the first Trump-class battleships. Construction of the flagship USS Defiant (BBG-1) is planned for 2027.
Investment in Space Forces and Missile Defense
Alongside the battleship program, the administration intends to invest heavily in space forces and missile defense in 2027, allocating $71 billion – a 77% increase from the $40 billion spent in 2026. This investment will focus on developing modern technologies, with approximately $40 billion in funding.
The U.S. also plans to spend $17 billion on building a multi-domain missile defense system, known as the “Golden Dome.” The goal is to gain an advantage in space, maintain dominance at sea, and expand military personnel.
Military Personnel Expansion Planned
The project budget anticipates an increase in the US Army’s personnel by nearly 21,000 soldiers, bringing the total active-duty personnel to 1,342,900 by the end of 2027.
