A recent poll indicates limited support for Law and Justice (PiS) regaining power after next year’s parliamentary elections, amid financial concerns and internal tensions.
PiS Financial Struggles and Appeal for Support
On April 16th, reports detailed the financial situation of Law and Justice (PiS), including Jarosław Kaczyński’s appeal for support from sympathizers and issues with party funding. The presentation of a conference and its media coverage also sparked reader reactions.
A poll was conducted to assess PiS’s chances of returning to power following the upcoming parliamentary elections.
Poll Results: Limited Prospects for PiS
The poll revealed that over half of respondents believe a PiS return to power is unlikely. “Definitely not” received 56.24% of the votes (568 responses), while “rather not” garnered 23.37% (236 votes).
Positive responses were significantly lower, with “rather yes” at 9.11% and “definitely yes” at 8.51%. Combined, positive responses did not exceed one-fifth of all votes cast. Only 2.77% of respondents expressed no opinion. A total of 1010 votes were cast on April 23, 2026.
Internal Tensions and Right-Wing Competition
Recent issues extend beyond finances, including tensions surrounding the “Rozwój Plus” association and competition for voters on the right-wing political spectrum. Approximately 40 parliamentarians have joined Mateusz Morawiecki’s initiative, with concerns raised about the inclusion of its members on future electoral lists.
Current Polling Data
A CBOS poll conducted in April 2026 shows PiS at 18%, Civic Coalition at 32%, Confederation at 13%, and the Grzegorz Braun party at 8.7%.
Potential for Early Elections and Risks
Discussions include the possibility of early elections. The current situation on the right is seen by some as potentially favorable for the government, while others emphasize the risks associated with such a move, including uncertainty regarding the outcome and the distribution of seats.
Political scientist Dr. Maciej Onasz of the University of Łódź, in an interview with Gazeta.pl, highlighted both internal tensions within PiS and the importance of competition for voters on the right.
