App-Based Drivers Targeted in Mokotów Robberies

Mokotów police have arrested a 21-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman for multiple robberies involving ride-sharing drivers, where the pair stole mobile phones and deployed pepper spray to escape.

Modus Operandi of the Robbery Duo

Officers from the Mokotów Life and Health Crimes Division arrested two suspects who collaborated to rob ride-sharing drivers. The pair would book a ride, distract the driver to seize their mobile phone, and use pepper spray to secure their escape with the stolen property.

In one incident on Chocimska Street, the suspects stole a phone worth 5,600 PLN from an Indian driver. After stealing the device during the ride, the woman sprayed the driver with pepper spray when he attempted to pursue them.

Arrest and Additional Discoveries

Following an intensive investigation, police located the suspects at a property in Mokotów. During the raid, officers apprehended the 21-year-old man and 20-year-old woman. They also discovered a juvenile at the scene who was wanted for placement in a correctional facility.

A search of the premises yielded the stolen phones, cash, and pepper spray used in the crimes. Evidence collected linked the pair to another robbery in late April on Gandhi Street, where they stole two phones worth 1,800 PLN from a different driver using similar tactics.

Legal Consequences

The suspects have been formally charged with robbery committed in concert. The District Prosecutor for Warsaw-Mokotów has imposed preventive measures requiring the pair to report to the police under ongoing supervision.
