14-Year-Old Found Dead in Kępno

The body of a 14-year-old Ukrainian citizen was found on the floor in the hallway of one of the apartments on the Cooperative housing estate in Kępno (Greater Poland Voivodeship) Thursday morning. The teenager lived there with her mother, who was at work at the time of the incident. According to TVN24, police entered the apartment after neighbors informed officers that water was leaking from the dwelling and no one was responding to contact attempts.

24-Year-Old Detained

Chief Insp. Andrzej Borowiak of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Poznań told TVN24 that a 24-year-old Ukrainian man was detained in connection with the incident. “He knew the girl’s mother. We established that he had been in the apartment. We do not rule out that he might have been there yesterday, just before the body was found. That’s why we considered his detention necessary. The information he has is important, so he is currently being held in the detention room at the local police station,” Borowiak reported.

Autopsy of Child’s Body Underway

The police officer also informed that “no injuries were visible on the body of the 14-year-old during the inspection.” “Currently, an autopsy of the body is underway, we are waiting for the results. The prosecutor is participating in it and will make decisions about the further course of this case,” he told the service on January 30.
