Polish authorities are investigating the deaths of two elderly individuals found in their Wołomin apartment on Monday, March 30th, alongside a related injury to a young man.
Double Homicide Investigation Initiated
Police responded to a report on Monday, March 30th, at an apartment in Wołomin, Mazowieckie Voivodeship, and discovered the bodies of two elderly people.
A young man was also found injured at the scene and was transported to a hospital, according to Police Commissioner Monika Kaczyńska of the Wołomin County Police Headquarters.
Investigation Underway
The Prosecutor’s Office has launched an investigation into the case, classifying it as a double homicide.
An autopsy of the victims began on Tuesday at 9:00 AM to determine the cause of death. Prosecutors are also awaiting an expert opinion on the nature of the injuries sustained by the deceased seniors.
19-Year-Old’s Status and Potential Interrogation
The 19-year-old remains hospitalized. Prosecutors will decide after the autopsy whether to question him, and in what capacity – as a witness or a suspect.
A decision is expected to be made on Tuesday, pending an update on the young man’s health from his doctors.
Unofficial Reports: Grandson as Suspect
According to unofficial reports from Onet, the 19-year-old is the grandson of the deceased seniors and had visited them for the weekend.
The young man reportedly called emergency services on Monday morning, requesting assistance due to a tragedy at the apartment.
Investigators are reportedly considering the possibility that the 19-year-old killed his grandparents and then inflicted injuries upon himself.
