Drunken Teen Attacks Police Vehicle After Public Disturbance

A 16-year-old, heavily intoxicated, became aggressive towards authorities and damaged a police transport van in Warsaw on April 12, 2026.

Initial Intervention at Łukowska Street

The incident began with a report of a person lying on the sidewalk in front of a Żabka store on Łukowska Street in the Praga-Południe district. A patrol from the Municipal Guard found a 16-year-old exhibiting signs of severe intoxication.

Upon approaching the teen, officers observed aggressive behavior and incoherent speech, alternating between broken Polish and Ukrainian. He refused to comply with instructions.

Escalation and Damage to Police Vehicle

Due to his behavior, the Municipal Guard used physical force to place the teen in the police van’s transport compartment. A preventative search revealed energy drink cans, a damaged phone, keys, an e-cigarette, and a bank card.

The teen then began damaging the van’s interior, kicking the partition and striking the walls and window separating the compartment from the officer’s cabin. Officers opened the compartment and instructed him to cease, but he continued his destructive behavior.

To prevent further damage and potential self-harm, officers deployed pepper spray, restrained the teen, and applied handcuffs.

Police Involvement and Identification

Police arrived at approximately 6:50 PM and confirmed the teen’s continued aggression. The van’s partition was damaged, and a monitoring camera was torn down.

Further investigation revealed the individual was a minor, 16 years old. Police proceeded to his listed address with his mother.

Continued Defiance and Alcohol Confirmation

At his home, the teen remained disrespectful towards officers and his mother, refusing a breathalyzer test and claiming the officers were acting “sadistically.” His mother repeatedly pleaded with him to cooperate.

He eventually agreed to the test, which registered 0.77 mg/l of alcohol in his breath – approximately 1.62 per mille.

Medical Assistance and Hospital Transport

Paramedics were called to the scene, but the teen refused examination, asserting his “right” to do so and threatening to file a complaint. The paramedic informed him that, as a minor, he was under his mother’s legal guardianship.

Due to his aggressive state, police assisted paramedics in transporting him to Międzylesie Hospital, accompanied by his mother. The teen, suspected of property damage and insulting officers, was turned over to police for further investigation.
