Emergency crews are battling a significant industrial fire in Dąbrówka Wielkopolska and a massive 300-hectare forest fire in the Wołomin region, as authorities monitor weather conditions and containment efforts across both sites.
Industrial Fire in Dąbrówka Wielkopolska
Firefighters were alerted at 3:40 p.m. to a blaze at a facility producing alternative fuel from waste. The fire, which originated in a 200-square-meter hall, quickly spread to three external piles of processed material.
As of 5:00 p.m., the situation remained critical, with 16 firefighting units working on the scene. No injuries have been reported, though the fire remains uncontained despite efforts to control the interior flames.
Forest Fire Crisis in Wołomin
Simultaneously, a massive crown fire broke out Thursday afternoon in the Wołomin district, consuming approximately 300 hectares of forest. Hundreds of firefighters, police, territorial defense forces, and forestry services have been deployed to combat the blaze.
Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Interior Minister Marcin Kierwiński noted on Friday that while the situation has improved since Thursday night, containment depends heavily on wind conditions. Aerial support, including helicopters and Dromader firefighting aircraft, remains in operation.
Weather Outlook and Containment Efforts
Meteorologists report no rainfall for the Wołomin area through Saturday, with temperatures reaching 21°C. While wind is a concern, officials hope for continued progress as specialized forest firefighting modules remain on high alert.
