Machete Attack on Police Officers in Warsaw

Three officers from the Central Bureau for Combating Cybercrime were injured Friday morning after a 29-year-old man attacked them with a machete and brass knuckles near a metro station in Warsaw’s Ursynów district.

The Initial Confrontation

The incident occurred on Friday, July 10, at approximately 6:50 AM in front of the Central Bureau for Combating Cybercrime headquarters on Wąwozowa Street in Ursynów. A 29-year-old Polish citizen initiated an attack against an officer before fleeing the scene.

Pursuit and Escalation

Two additional officers began searching for the suspect. Upon locating him, they were also attacked. In total, three officers sustained injuries during the encounter. One officer was transported to the hospital, though initial reports indicate his injuries are not serious; the others did not require hospitalization.

Apprehension and Investigation

The 29-year-old was incapacitated and arrested near the Kabaty metro station. Police seized a machete and brass knuckles from his possession. Preliminary reports suggest the man claimed he was being wiretapped and harassed by security services. The motive and circumstances of his behavior are under ongoing investigation.

Authorities have secured the items confiscated from the assailant. Once processing is complete, the case will be handed over to the prosecutor’s office, which will determine further legal proceedings and formal charges against the 29-year-old.
