Fatal Shooting at the Bite of Seattle Food Festival Leaves Three Dead

Three people died and others were injured after a shooting broke out at the crowded Bite of Seattle food festival at Seattle Center, prompting a massive police response and one arrest.

Around 6:00 PM local time at Seattle Center, a barrage of gunfire rang out during the “Bite of Seattle” culinary festival, which attracts thousands of people. Two witnesses present at the festival told local station KOMO that they heard “seven to eight shots” on the grounds. They saw a crowd running “in all directions” and seeking shelter within the park where the event was taking place.

Casualties and Medical Response

Representatives from Harborview Medical Center notified CNN that the facility is admitting injured individuals. According to BBC reports, two people died at the scene of the incident. A third person died at the hospital as a result of their injuries.

Police Arrest One Suspect

As reported by the “Seattle Times”, police detained one person suspected of involvement in the shooting. A second suspect remains at large. Authorities secured two handguns at the scene of the incident. At this moment, the motive for the shooting is unknown.

The annual “Bite of Seattle” festival, which began in 1982, took place over the weekend at Seattle Center. The event featured hundreds of local vendors and live musical performances. According to the organizers, the event draws 350,000 people over the course of three days.

Monorail Suspended After Incident

Following reports of the shooting, the management of the Seattle Center Monorail announced that it would remain closed for the rest of the day. Its operations will resume on Monday morning.
