Robbery and Police Pursuit: Two 16-Year-Olds Arrested in Warsaw’s Wola District

Following a violent robbery and an attack on an intervening bystander in Warsaw’s Wola district last Monday, police arrested two 16-year-olds after a brief pursuit, with a family court ordering them placed in a juvenile shelter for three months.

Dynamic Police Action and Arrest

The entire sequence of events unfolded dynamically. Following a report regarding an assault on a victim and aggression directed at an intervening witness, police officers from Warsaw’s Wola district launched an intensive search for the perpetrators. Two 16-year-olds were detained after a short police pursuit. By decision of the family court, they will spend the next three months in a juvenile shelter.

The incident took place last Monday. Wola police officers received a report concerning the beating of a man and immediately dispatched a patrol to the location. Findings indicated that two attackers first struck the victim in the face with their fists in an attempt to take 50 zlotys from him.

Escalation of Violence and Bystander Intervention

When the victim managed to break free, the perpetrators attacked again, kicking him in the head with a knee and striking him with their fists until they finally took cash from the victim’s wallet. One of the passersby reacted to the aggressive behavior of the perpetrators and was attacked and punched in the head.

The same attacker struck the victim again, while the second perpetrator provoked him into a beating. Following the brutal incident, both fled the scene.

Hospitalization and Search Operations

At the scene, an emergency medical rescue team transported the beaten man to the hospital. At the same time, Wola patrol officers began searching for the attackers, and other police patrols were engaged in the operations while officers established the physical description of the assailants.

Shortly afterward, the officers spotted two young males matching the description. Upon seeing the marked police vehicle, the teenagers broke into a run. After a chase lasting several hundred meters, they were overpowered and detained, offering active and passive resistance until the end.

Charges and Court Decision

The aggressors turned out to be two 16-year-olds. They were transported to the police headquarters and subsequently placed in a police juvenile detention center.

Materials gathered by officers from the Social Prevention, Juveniles, and Pathology Department were forwarded along with an application for provisional measures against the juveniles to the family court. The juveniles will answer for attempted robbery, robbery, bodily harm, and violation of bodily integrity in connection with the witness’s intervention. Given that the juveniles acted in a public place, without cause, and with blatant disregard for the legal order, their acts were classified as hooliganism. The family court decided to place both 16-year-olds in a juvenile shelter for a period of three months.
