Drunk Motorist With Court Ban Crashes Into Police Car After Failed Stop

A 49-year-old man, driving under the influence with over 2.0 per mille of alcohol in his system, crashed his defective scooter into a police vehicle after fleeing a traffic stop in Maków Mazowiecki on June 17.

The Failed Traffic Stop

On June 17, shortly after 8:00 AM, a traffic officer in Maków Mazowiecki attempted to stop a scooter operator on Mazowiecka Street. The driver’s erratic behavior prompted the officer to use emergency lights and sirens, but the man ignored the command and attempted to evade the inspection.

Crash and Subsequent Arrest

During the chase, the man lost control of his scooter while turning left and struck the police cruiser. After a short pursuit, the officer successfully blocked the driver’s path and took him into custody.

Criminal Charges and Violations

Subsequent investigation revealed the 49-year-old had a blood alcohol concentration exceeding 2.0 per mille, a pre-existing judicial ban on driving, and was operating a mechanically unsound vehicle without a valid inspection certificate. The man has been charged with drunk driving, violating a judicial ban, and failing to stop for a police inspection; he faces up to five years in prison.
