The two-day Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC 2026) in Gdansk focuses on coordinating international economic and defense assistance for Kyiv. Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko emphasized that the summit is expected to yield over 160 specific agreements, directly impacting regional growth and national security.

Defense and Economic Resilience

Svyrydenko framed the war as an existential threat, asserting that Ukraine’s ability to adapt its defense and energy sectors serves as a catalyst for broader European change. She noted that current efforts are focused on rapid transformation under the pressure of full-scale conflict.

Expressing gratitude for €90 billion in European support, Svyrydenko confirmed that new funds will be directed toward strengthening defense, maintaining macroeconomic stability, and repairing the energy grid ahead of the winter heating season.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced during the conference inauguration that Ukraine will receive its first installment of €3.2 billion as part of the broader €90 billion European Union loan package.
