Lublin Meeting and Decision-Making Centers
Zbigniew Bogucki was a guest on the wPolsce24 television channel on Sunday, August 2, where he was asked about Prime Minister Donald Tusk’s meeting in Lublin with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and whether the Presidential Palace was informed about it.
He stated that Poland cannot allow itself to be played within its own decision-making centers, which are the President of the Republic of Poland and the government led by the Prime Minister.
Transactional Politics and Reciprocity
Bogucki added that relations with the Ukrainian authorities and President Zelensky are tense, and while Ukraine is a partner waging war against the Russian Federation, Poland must conduct a transactional policy.
He emphasized that as providers of humanitarian and military security, Polish politicians, the government, and the president have the right and duty to demand reciprocity in the interest of the Polish state and its citizens.
Armament Support and National Security
Asked if he still supports transferring Polish funds and weaponry to Ukraine, Bogucki replied that national security and armaments must be secured first to provide capabilities to the Polish soldier.
He added that this does not exclude supporting Ukraine in its fight against Putin’s Russia within the framework of allied agreements.
Tensions Between the Presidential Palace and the Government
The flow of information regarding contacts with Zelensky has repeatedly faced issues, such as early July when Donald Tusk publicly stated he received no briefing from the Presidential Palace regarding President Karol Nawrocki’s conversation with Zelensky at the NATO summit in Ankara.
The head of the KPRP did not directly address the current crisis caused by Zelensky naming a military unit after UPA heroes, which led Nawrocki to strip the Ukrainian president of the Order of the White Eagle, while the Lublin meeting itself was public and announced beforehand by the Prime Minister’s Office.
